Policy A20 - Awards and Recognition

Purpose

To acknowledge/recognize those who have made significant contributions to the organization and winners of the Olav Pedersen Race and Rally.

Policy

SFL shall issue the following awards:

• The Bjarne Eikevik President's Award: The organization's highest award for a person who has contributed significantly to the program; to be selected by the SFL President.
• The Jan Haug Award: This award is traditionally a full ski package (skis, boots, and poles) given to a first-time skier who is deemed likely to continue skiing, has demonstrated a positive attitude, and who has gained sufficient skiing skills during the week. The SFL president chooses the winner from a list of three nominees submitted by the Guide Trainers.
• The Brit Peterson Award: This award is presented to anyone who has contributed $25,000 or more to SFL during their lifetime.
• Life Member of Friends of SFL: Individuals or couples who donate $400 or more to the Endowment Fund during any fiscal year shall become Life Members of Friends of SFL.
• The Tracksetter Society: Individuals who have included SFL in their estate plan and wish to be acknowledged are publicly awarded a small gift of appreciation during the annual event. Members of the Tracksetter Society are also invited to any Board Reception held during the week.
• Guide 5-year, 10-year, 15-year, and 20-year awards: Patches are awarded to guides who have attended and actively guided for the specified number of years.
• Guide 25, 30, and 35-year awards: A specially selected commemorative gift is awarded to guides who have attended and actively guided for the specified number of years.

Race/Rally Awards: Race/rally categories have traditionally included:

• Men and women in each group, partially sighted and totally blind, median age and below, and above median age.
• For Rally, only degree of vision and gender.
• MIP program

For Race/Rally: A small gift will be provided to first place skier and guide teams and ribbons for the second/third places for skier and guide teams in these categories.

If possible, race/rally results will be posted immediately after the banquet in several locations and made available on the website.
