This privacy policy discloses the privacy practices for the Ski for Light, Inc. website, https://www.sfl.org. This privacy policy applies solely to information collected by or contained on this website. It will notify you of the following:
We only have access to information that you voluntarily give us via email, or through other direct contact with you. We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, rent or share this information to anyone.
We will use your information to respond to you regarding the reason you contacted us, e.g. to process and evaluate your annual event application information or to answer a question sent to us by you.
Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via postal mail or email in the future to tell you about SFL events and activities, to send you the Ski for Light Bulletin that is published three times a year and the SFL Annual Report, and to ask you for financial support from time to time, or about changes to this privacy policy.
The event application information that you submit from our website application form includes your name, contact information, gender, weight, age, disability if any, housing and meal preferences for the week, and detailed information about your past skiing experience, your skill level, and your desires for the upcoming week in terms of a skiing partner. The application also includes check boxes that indicate your acceptance of the General Waiver of Liability for the week, your acceptance of the Communicable Disease Waiver of Liability for the week, and your agreement to abide by the SFL Code of Conduct Policy during the week. Your agreement to the General Waiver of Liability for the event includes your agreement to the use of your image, likeness and/or voice in publicity and marketing materials and activities. Your application submission also includes an indication of whether or not you wish your name and contact information to be excluded from the event attendee list that is distributed to all event participants via e-mail before the start of the event.
The responses that you submit are transmitted electronically in a secure manner to those Ski for Light personnel who need to have the information that you provide in order to perform their assigned function for the event. These people include the application coordinator, the personnel who determine your suitability to attend the upcoming event (including the current SFL President and Event Chair), the personnel responsible for pairing you with an appropriate skiing partner for the week, plus the meals, housing and transportation coordinators for the event and the SFL Treasurer.
These personnel receive submitted information in two ways.
Applications to each Annual Event that are submitted by you, and a record of your donations or payments, is retained for seven years, per the terms of the SFL Document Retention and Destruction policy that you may view on the SFL website at www.sfl.org/board/policy/pc20.html. .
We list on the SFL website the names of all life members of Friends of SFL, the results of the race and rally from the most recent event, the names of recipients of all significant SFL awards and honors, the names of SFL committee members, and the names of all current officers and directors of Ski for Light, Inc. There are also occasional photos and videos on the website of event participants and activities.
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time by sending a request to Privacy@sfl.org or by calling (612)827-3232.
You may request that we not include your name on the roster of life members of Friends of SFL, or that any online image or likeness of you be removed from the website, with a request to Privacy@SFL.org or a phone call to (612)827-3232.
You may not request that your name be removed from the published race and rally results, the roster of award recipients, the roster of SFL committee members, or the roster of officers and directors, as your acceptance of such listing is implied by your participation in the race and rally, your acceptance of an honor or award, your acceptance of a committee position, or your acceptance of election as an officer or director.
You may ask to be sent a copy of the contact information that SFL has for you with a message to info@sfl.org. If necessary or desirable, you may then request that such information be updated or corrected.
When you entrust your personal information to a website, you expect the operators of that site to demonstrate that they have earned your trust. Maintaining the privacy and security of your personal information is our highest priority.
We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via our website, your information is protected both online and offline.
Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as the information on an event application), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way, using Secure Sockets Layer software (SSL). We use "cookies" on this site. A cookie is a piece of data stored on a site visitor's hard drive to help us improve your access to our site and identify repeat visitors to our site. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information on our site.
Donations and payments transacted through the SFL.org website utilize the PayPal(r) Checkout payment gateway. In conformance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) guidelines, user credit card information is not stored in SFL databases or retained on SFL servers. When the SFL website is not immediately available to process a donation or payment we use Square for this purpose. They have procedures and protections that are similar to PayPal.
